After A “Extreme” Tropical Fruit Diet, A Vegan Influencer “Dies Of Starvation And Exhaustion”

The mysterious death of well-known vegan influencer Zhanna Samsonova has brought attention to the possible dangers of extreme dietary practices. Samsonova’s strange and unfortunate journey, which included a six-year severe raw fruit diet and water abstinence, has spurred a discussion on the health hazards connected to unbalanced eating practices.

Samsonova, a Russian woman who went by the online alias Zhanna D’Art, died tragically, which serves as a sharp reminder of the unintended effects of improper food habits. According to reports, this 39-year-old advocate for raw foods passed away from exhaustion and famine as a result of her protracted indulgence in a “extreme” exotic fruit diet.

Samsonova followed a raw plant-based diet for ten years, with a focus on fruits, sprouted sunflower seeds, fruit juices, and smoothies. However, as she occasionally engaged in “dry fasting” – refraining from both food and drinks for prolonged periods – her nutritional odyssey took an increasingly bizarre turn.

Samsonova tragically passed away on July 21 in Malaysia, where she was resided. According to reports, she skipped drinking water for more than six years in favor of fruit and vegetable juices, which may have had a significant impact on her decline. Her mother told a Russian tabloid, Vechernyaya Kazan, that the influencer’s unhealthily restricted diet made a condition resembling cholera worse and finally caused her early demise.

While an official cause of death is yet to be definitively established, bureaucratic hurdles are hampering the repatriation of Samsonova’s body to Russia, leaving her family in limbo.

Samsonova’s mother, Vera Samsonova, shed light on her daughter’s steadfast commitment to her unorthodox dietary choices. Despite her mother’s attempts to dissuade her from such an extreme path, Samsonova remained resolute, even transitioning from a broader vegan diet to an exclusive consumption of raw vegetables and fruits.

The visual narrative painted by Samsonova’s social media presence became increasingly concerning, with her appearing progressively malnourished. Her posts showcased her partaking in seemingly meager meals, such as consuming an entire melon or drinking carrot juice for lunch. She often provided captions that underscored her adherence to a simple, oil-free, salt-free, and protein-free diet.

Despite well-intentioned warnings from friends and family, Samsonova’s dedication to her extreme regimen remained unshaken. This steadfast commitment ultimately proved fatal, contributing to an infection and weariness that culminated in her passing.

Her friends, who witnessed her deteriorating health firsthand, were deeply troubled by her transformation. One expressed the distress of seeing her hands appear as those of a child due to her extreme thinness. Another recounted her looking weary and described their futile attempts to encourage her to seek treatment.

Samsonova’s perplexing demise underscores the fine line between passion and obsession, leaving observers questioning the boundaries of individual expression and the potential consequences of unchecked dedication. The tragic tale of this vegan influencer serves as a haunting reminder that while personal choices are important, a balanced and holistic approach to health is paramount.
