Following the tremendous attention garnered by his creations, Henk’s daughter, Linda, took the initiative to establish a dedicated Facebook page to showcase his intricate furniture.

When asked about his distinctive style, Henk responded, “I would describe my furniture style as unconventional and eccentric. I enjoy fashioning peculiar pieces that you wouldn’t typically find in a store.”

While one might assume that Henk draws inspiration from fairy tales, he attributes all of his creations solely to his “twisted brain.”

Just as their appearance suggests, these dressers are far from easy to make. However, Henk is a true master of his craft.

“It’s difficult to estimate the time required for each piece. It varies throughout the week, but it could easily amount to 80-100 hours. Occasionally, I encounter issues with details or angles, and I have to start over. I primarily use recycled New Zealand pine, but if I come across some Rimu, I incorporate that into my work as well.”

Before retiring, Henk pursued woodworking for 53 years as a joiner and cabinet maker. “Now it has become my hobby and passion,” he says.

Despite numerous individuals expressing interest in purchasing these enchanting dressers, Henk reveals that, at present, they are not for sale.

“I initially created them purely out of love, without any intention of selling. But when I run out of space, there might be an eBay auction or two. Everything is up for sale… except for my wife,” he jokingly adds.
