“A poem of compassion” was how Mahatma Gandhi described cows. Cows, like cats and dogs, are friendly, affectionate, and enjoy spending time with people. Cows are kind creatures that need to be treated with kindness and reverence.
Volunteers care for cows rescued from factory farms at charitable sanctuaries, where they are free to roam and express themselves.
Nima Sanctuary is Romania’s first and only sanctuary of this type. Cows spared from slaughter are able to thrive at this sanctuary. Funds raised by Nima Sanctuary will be used to purchase a pasture for the sanctuary’s cows, who will enjoy grazing in the fresh mountain air.
Three Euros or 3.4 US Dollars is the cost of one square meter of pasture in the United States. Please spread the word about the sanctuary’s fundraising if you’d like to contribute. Visit Nima Sanctuary’s website to learn more.
Here are a few photographs of cows, as well as some interesting tidbits about them.
